Energy Sector – Senior Lighting Designer
For design-build renovations and standard retrofit projects.
Northwest Edison is a commercial electrical contracting company specializing in lighting, sustainability projects, and electrical service work. For over 25 years we have been designing and installing energy efficient lighting and lighting control systems throughout the Western US.
Northwest Edison wants to expand their lighting design team in Bothell. This team surveys, compiles, specifies and designs lighting upgrades in the commercial, industrial, institutional and roadway sectors. This is a fast paced, multi-faceted position and provides an opportunity to work in the energy conservation market and learn and grow with the illumination industry.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated and resourceful, and have lighting design experience. We’d like to see the demonstrated ability to respond effectively and efficiently while maintaining flexibility, composure and a good sense of humor.
The position will work closely with customers, the manager of lighting design, material acquisition specialists, utility incentive reps and project managers. This role will require the successful candidate to create lighting and power plans for tenant improvement projects. Scrupulous note taking and organizational ability are key to success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Communicate design options to a diverse stakeholder group
Help determine lighting/controls project pricing based on RFP/RFQs
Detailed knowledge of building codes and industry standards
Perform calculations and equipment selection for Interior, Exterior and Roadway lighting projects, including controls.
Provide training, inspiration, communication and design direction for the project team
Perform site visits and issue reports
Edit/write specifications. Help customers create their lighting/controls standards
Foster client relationships
Key Competencies & Skills:
Independently evaluates and applies judgement, techniques, and procedures to complete a project from design through construction
Lead and manage projects successfully
Microsoft Office Suite
Lead design of lighting systems and perform as Lighting Designer of record
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Lighting Design
Requires a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience
